Warner Bros. is planning to introduce a new remake for the famous 1992 movie "The Body Guard," which launched the late singer Whitney Houston's career in the world of acting where she preformed her famous songs.

The company said on Wednesday that a new remake for the suspense, thriller and romance movie is underway and that American writer Matthew Lopez is writing the script.

Warner Bros. did not release details about the cast, plot, or possible release date of the film, but said that Lawrence Kasdan, the writer and producer of the 1992 film, would co-produce the new version of the film .

Houston began acting in that film, playing a singer who is protected from an unknown stalker by a former Secret Service officer. The role of bodyguard was embodied by the famous star Kevin Costner.

Although the film met with critical reviews at the time of its release, it came in at number two at the global box office that year and Houston's lead single "I Will Always Love You" became a classic universal song. although, "The Bodyguard" wasn't the first time that "I Will Always Love You" was heard in a movie. Martin Scorsese had also used the song on the soundtrack of 1974's "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore," shortly after Dolly Parton composed and recorded it. When Parton starred in 1982's "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," she added it to the score for her character to sing. The song went to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country chart both times, making Parton the first singer ever to top the chart twice with the same song. of course, it's Houston's monumental cover that most listeners remember. It was country fan Costner who picked the song for the movie's emotional climax.

in 2011,The studio wanted Rihanna for the lead role, but the pop star turned the project down, saying she wanted to play anything but a singer. Rihanna said:"I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play another character, my whole life is playing a Rihanna so being a singer won't be a stretch for me."
