" Nothing by chance " The Theory of Evolution

Nothing by chance.
The Theory of Evolution
 Dr. Ahmed Khairy Al-Omari

Talking about the theory of evolution leads, in turn, to talking about other things, such as scientific methodology, the concept of scientific theory, the difference between the scientific meaning and the colloquial use of the word, the difference between it and the word hypothesis, and the differences between belief in terms dealing with the results of science.

The book "Nothing by chance" by Dr. Ahmed Khairy Al-Omari, is of great importance,it deals with the relationship between science and religion, that relationship that has long been raised by western opinion as a problem in Arab and Islamic civilization, despite the fact that the scientific legacy of Islamic civilization is the best evidence and the greatest proof of religion’s encouragement of science, and even made the pursuit of science a worship and duty, the Quran verses that urges to contemplate and the realization of the mind multiple and many.

The book "Nothing by chance" deals with the issue of biological evolution and Islam, with the same logical intellectual sequence, it is worth mentioning that other scholars had dealt in books for them with issues of scientific methodology, scientific research and controversial scientific topics on which the general public differ, such as evolution and others. and Christmas in Mecca, so he was able to reach an audience before scholars could reach him about a topic that the public deals with a lot, unfortunately, without seeking help from the opinions and arguments of scholars from the people of knowledge and specialization in this issue.

The book was offered for free, and it was downloaded in the first week of its release More than 100,000 copies by a community stigmatized for not reading, it is considered one of the best rates for Arabic books downloaded from the Internet (best seller)! Al-Omari also stressed that the theory of evolution is really important, and it cannot be deleted, nor can it delete its effects and results. the relationship between the theory of evolution and biology - according to many - is like the relationship between Newton's laws and physics, and deleting it will have the same results, if Newton's laws were deleted, That is, the complete collapse of biology. The theory of evolution provided a (comprehensive vision) of biology, linked its various parts, and provided a scientific explanation for many natural phenomena, especially the phenomenon of the enormous diversity found in living organisms.

Talking about the theory of evolution leads, in turn, to talking about other matters, such as the scientific methodology, the concept of scientific theory, the difference between the scientific meaning and the colloquial use of the word, the difference between it and the word hypothesis, the differences between belief in terms of belief and dealing with the results of science, and the meaning of scientific evidence. and cumulative science, all of which I believe will have a great educational impact in the long run.

Among the reasons cited by the author as a motive for writing the book, he says: "Our dealings with this theory without a stiff prior rejection, as Muslims, will inevitably reflect on our dealings with many other things related to our dealing with and understanding religious texts."

The theory of evolution since it was published in Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species in 1859, first met, in the nineteenth century, with the disapproval of some Christian clergy, and remains to this day, on the other hand, the position of evolution Muslims from the theory also ranges between acceptance and rejection, as the theory was accepted by Muslim scholars such as Ibn al-Jisr (Hussein bin Muhammad bin Mustafa al-Jisr from Tripoli, Lebanon / 1845 AD, author of the Hamidiyya message on the reality of the Muhammadan religion and the reality of Muhammadiyah Sharia) when it became famous in the nineteenth century, At the same time, the theory was rejected by the Christian clergy.

In the current era, the position of Muslims on the theory among the general public is closer to the position of some Christian groups. individuals who deal with the theory of evolution are either religious scholars or scientists of natural sciences. Most religious scholars reject the theory, and if they accept it, they exclude that part that relates to human development. or that they deliberately not address this matter, so they do not speak about it. as for the Muslim scholars working in the fields of science, most of them are silent and do not speak, and some of them are few in number, either they accept the theory without referring to Adam, or they accept it completely. Among other scholars, such as the Algerian scientist Nidal Kassoum ( Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, who confirms that scientific data support Darwin's theory of evolution).

Al-Omari did not only address the issue of evolution in general, but also touched on human development, which is the issue that usually constitutes the biggest obstacle to the acceptance of the theory of evolution in general, and it is a very important step, as it was a bold step by Al-Omari, who addressed it intelligently, as he offered the reader has ways to compare science and religion without rejecting the theory of evolution, and without rejecting religion, although in his book he insisted on separating the two things, but due to the sensitivity of the subject of (Adam) he tried to find a middle way when he talked about him.

It is worth noting that Al-Omari had documented all of what he wrote from scientific references, but he did not mention references to contemporary Muslim scholars to prove their position on the theory and to enrich his audience with references in Arabic, or references written by Muslim scholars, so that the reader can read from references written Written directly by Muslim scholars, and not only Western scholars, which makes his argument stronger. Of course, Al-Omari’s audience was divided over this book, between a supportive audience, a skeptical audience, and another rejecting what was stated in the book, and this is expected, but this is always the beginning of any new.
