Blues rock group ZZ Top announced the death of one of its main members, bassist Dusty Hill, known for his long blonde beard and who had been with the band since its beginnings in 1970, at the age of 72.

Hill has been a longtime member of the Texas blues rock band for over 50 years. The other two members of the band, drummer Frank Bird and vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons, wrote on the band's website:

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston,".

"We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'."You will be missed greatly, amigo," they added.

Dusty Hill, famous for his long blonde beard, has been with Z-Top since 1970, a year after its founding.
In half a century of existence and fifteen albums, the Texas-based band has become a part of American rock and blues history.
"ZZ Top" became famous in the seventies, especially with the song "La Grange", whose fame crossed over time. But the band's biggest commercial success remains the 1983 album Eliminator, especially with the songs "Gimme All Your Love" and "Sharp Dressed Man".
